I recently bought a re-furbished Nikon Buckmasters 3-9 scope.
I am not happy with the focus sharpness on it. At 100 yards, the image lacks sharpness, everything is slightly blurry.
If I adjust the focus to present a clear reticle, the image focus is even worse.
If I adjust for best image, the crosshairs are a blur, almost.
I don't have another scope to check it against, but I'm wondering if the scope shoulkd be sent back to Nikon, or if there is a problem with my none-too-sharp eyesight.
FYI....Thru a spotting scope I have no trouble with getting a sharp image, same eyes, eyeglasses and all......
Advice?

Without another scope to look through to compare, it's really hard to say if it's the scope or your eyes.

At any rate, you have to have it focused so the reticule is as clear as possible. If it is blurry at 9x at that point at 25-30 yards or more, you have a big problem.

Could you take it to a local gunshop and have someone with experience with scopes try to adjust it?

If not, I would contact Nikon and see what they have to say.
Perhaps they didn't "refurbish" it as much as they thought they did!

Send it in to Nikon.
I had one which I bought used. It would not focus properly beyond 200 yd.
I sent it to Nikon and a week later, they sent me a new Monarch.

Actually, although it's currently my ONLY scope, I have had scopes on almost every rifle I've ever owned. To get the crosshairs crisp on this Nikon is no sweat, but the focus at a distance suffers greatly.
I have two family members who work at a big gunshop actually, just have not had the time to drive up there to the place! Maybe tomorrow......but in all honest I suspect it will get returned as suggested.
