The Ruger is significantly lighter (more than 3 pounds).

If you're looking at shooting from the bench, this is no big deal.

If you're looking at tramping around the woods, this weight difference will show up soon enough in your trek.

(BTW, moving this over to Rifle Country)

I've got a Ruger M77 MKII stainless/synthetic. I really like the feel of it, and it is good for hauling around the mountains chasing elk. It is light enough, but still solid. I haven't tried any really long range shooting (300yds or more) but I think Savage (and Rem and Win) has a better reputation for accuracy.

I'm with Arfin, you gotta tell us what you really want to do with it.

they are both for different uses. If you are varmint hunting and want long shots or target shooting from a bench, get the Savage. The Ruger is more for hunting in wooded area get a good deer round like 308 and let her rip.

I'm with the guys above.
Those are two very different rifles.
If bench shooting the savage no doubt, if walking around looking for coyote's then the regur. there's also many rifles in between those two that would be good for both.
