Contender Question

Can you/is it advisable to neck-size brass for (and previously fired-in) a Contender carbine? I'm considering getting a neck-sizing die to see if I can squeeze-out a little more accuracy, but in all my years of handloading have never neck-sized before. Thanks!

I’ve read that you need to bump the shoulder some for Contenders. Might have read that here. Try a search.

I agree. I find I need a partial resize. There is not as much leverage in a Contender compared to a bolt action to load a neck sized cartridge. - Phil

In my 223, 6 and 7 tcu's I neck size only, but after a few firings I do need to bump the shoulder back some. I had a 30-30AI that needed full length sizing everytime.

I routinely neck size in my Encores & Contenders and rarely have to full length size.
