I have been trying to come up with names for speakers for the Gun Club I started at the University of Houston Law School last year. We only have been in existence for one semester but we had Bob Levy from CATO speak already. He talked about the challenge he had filed to the DC gun ban. It was really interesting. I am trying now to formulate a list of names to ask to come speak this year. I want your opinions and ideas.

Criteria
They must be close to Houston since we have a limited budget(or be already coming here for other stuff)
Would draw a crowd on campus other than just gun people

My thoughts so far

Big hitters
Tom Delay - From Sugarland(my rep) - probably hard to get though
Nolan Ryan - Lives south of Houston
Stephen Halbrook - Big Gun Rights Lawyer and famous lawyer in Law Schools for winning Unideted States v. Printz which is a staple of constitutional law.
Ted Nugent - He was actually in Houston last year right after school let out so I didnt try to get him. Maybe could get him if he stops on tour in houston.

Less well known to average joe but still awesome
Ron Paul
Suzanna Gratia-Hupp

I would really like your ideas.

too bad you couldnt get folks like john addams or thomas jefferson.perhaps someone that would dress the part and give a valued historical lesson as well as a factual lesson.

Nope. All of them are light-weights in the oratory department when compared to Alan Keyes. He's not as radical as me, but he talks real goooood.

Chief Justice Rehnquist. :D My top pick.

Hollywood types: Mel Gibson, Tom Selleck.

Bureaucrat: Alan Greenspan (is he pro or con?). If that guy has pits in his morning orange juice, he could crash the economy. Anyway, whatever he says carries a lot of weight.

Military: Colin Powell, Tommy Franks, Norman Schwarzkopf (dunno any of their positions, but win them and you win hearts & minds).

I've gotten to hear him speak before, and I highly recommend it.

I'll second Alan Keyes. Even Pat Buchanan or Rush Limbaugh would be beneficial.
