I just purchased and set up a Lee Turret Press with a 4 die turret. I also purchased a Lee Auto-Disk Powder Measure. I am having a little trouble with the powder measure. When I try and install it, part of the casting and arm that moves the powder disk hit the other dies in the turret. I was under the impression that the Auto-Disk could be removed from the turret to empty powder, change disks and move to another turret. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem and how you resolved it.

You need the riser. Easy fix.

Also, without the riser you won't be able to use the Lee primer system.

Isn't it amazing, someone has done this before and solved the problem. If only Lee had told me when I was ordering.

The documentation provided with the Lee press leaves something to be desired..........:banghead:

I have the same problem as you. No mention of this in the instruction sheets provided with the press or the powder measure. I'm gonna have to order the riser also.

Along with the Riser you might want to also buy a Lee Swivel Adapter (http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=547368). The adapter allows you to install the Powder Measure without spinning it into place. Just turn the Swivel Adapter and that's that!! At only $5.59 it's a no-brainer and also makes the S&H worth it when shipping both parts in the same order.

Call Lee and order a some spare drive nuts: the square plastic thing that fits inside the black plastic collar and turns the indexing rod. A spare came with the press, but if you're like me and many others you'll strip both of them in a hurry. After a while you'll get your system running smoothly and probably won't have problems, but manually indexing while you wait for a spare is a pain. They only cost fifty cents apiece.

Get the Lee adjustable charge bar as well, if you didn't get it with the gear you bought. And, I personally like max cart gauges.

I think Graf & Sons will have all these parts. Get the Lee part numbers from the online catalog and, at the Graf site, do a seach on the name and number joined--i.e., Lee12345, like that. They will probably be the cheapest way to buy these (Lee) parts, although Kempf Gun Shop might have them as well. Kempf, however, has a less-functional site.

You seem to have the Auto Disk which is the original model that doesn't come with a swivel adapter. Unless you are using the new Lee Safety Prime, you don't need a riser, but a swivel adapter (about $5) would make your life much easier.

Another option is simply to upgrade the measure to the Pro Auto disk which comes in a kit. That gives you the swivel adapter and a different hopper which comes off with thumbscrews. It's much handier and well worth it in my opinion. Again though - unless you are using the new Safety Prime, you don't need the riser, if you do, get the upgrade kit and the riser and you'll be done.
