Hi mates,

I know I seen hammers for S&W revolvers with a bearing.
Could be Brownells had them but I cannot find them anywhere.

Does anybody know where to find these hammers?
I would deeply appreciate any feedback on both where to get them and/or how good they work...

Kind regards,

Ah, the Cylinder & Slide roller-bearing hammer and trigger kit. I think they are long discontinued.

Brownells sideplate shims, stock number 713-050-001, act as a bearing on the S&W hammer pivot, I've only used them to take the slop out of a older M&P hammer that was hitting the frame. Brownells claims these shims improve the trigger pull, may be worth a shot and they're cheap.

I krecall the hammer and trigger kit sold by Brownell's. It was DAO. Haven't read anything on them in years.

Yes, Brownells sold the Cylinder & Slide kit. I had thought of trying one, but I thought too long, and then they were gone.

Depends what type of bearing you mean. If it is a bearing where the hammer stud goes into the hammer there was some gunsmith who offered this sometime back. It was somewhat akin to the babbit main bearings in automobile engines. The roller bearing sear type of hammer, as noted above, was offered by C&S.

Walt Sherman in Tallahassee, FL offers a roller action tune on the old style K, L, N frames. Unlike C&S he retains the single action feature. He is noted for his roller action tunes on Pythons but it seems to go unnoticed his roller tunes on the Smiths. I had a 625 Mtn. Gun done by him and it came back great. DA was about 7.5 pounds and it would ignite any brand primer.
