I took my new Browning Citori White Lightning out this morning for early Teal season hunting. Shot one round of hevishot waterfowl #4 3 inch at a snake in the water. Definitely killed the snake. But, when I looked down the barrel, I saw a lot of unburned powder. The barrel looked quite dirty. Is this normal?

BTW, we saw three flights of Teal. One had about 5 birds and the other two each had at least 30 birds. None got close enough to try a shot though.

Remington Hevi-2s leave a good bit of ash. Cleans out OK.

I've not killed a non venomous snake in decades.if that was one, bad idea.
