I ran out of my CCI large rifle primers and asked a Buddie if he had an extra box of large rifle primers and I would repay him when I get to the gun shop.
He gave me a box of Winchester rifle primers :funny thing it states for large rifle and mag rifles:
I always thought they had 2 different types of primers one states LARGE RIFLE and another for LARGE RIFLE MAG:
ANYONE CAN ANS: WHY WINCHESTERS HAS ONE PRIMER FOR BOTH ?
I loaded them in my 30-06 with my regular load and I think they did better then the CCI

lw5347,

Winchester makes two large rifle primers: WLR, #8-1/2 - 120, Large Rifle and WLRM, #8-1/2M - 120, Large Rifle Magnum.

lw5347,

Winchester's regular WLR primers are considered "hot", so in many instances can be used with magnum loads.

I concur with USSR, I've found the WLR primers tend to be a tad warmer and a tad harder than the other brands of standard primers.

Winchester large rifle primers are the best...... in my opinion. Maybe..... Federal Benchrest are better in a few applications.....but I'm sticking with Winchester.
