"liberals shut down the only good quality gun range".
 off topic, but WTH?

too many houses were built adjacent to the range and residents were concerned for their safety and hated the 'noise pollution'. the local community voted it out of existence despite the land was willed to the community as a sportsmans lodge. it was a really great place too....

Enjoy your reward! I'm glad that you seem to have most of your original parts. Please accept a "Thank you!" and a "Semper Fi!" from a Marine Dad, 1 Each.

I'm curious regarding general operation and durability of that German, "make three parts do the work of one" barrel. :scrutiny:

i took it out today and fired 3 strings of 8, freehand. i took the AIMPOINT off for the first 2 utilizing iron sights only, and the third i watched the LASERMAX through the AIMPOINT and never turned the red-dot on. i cant give any technical specs, like i said, i live in a liberal area of Michigan and all i have to readily shoot at is psuedo junkyards... all ive got is a couple beat up pallets set up with old pop/beer cans and oil filters to pop from 25 yards. from freehand the ironsights are dead on, being used to 45ACP recoil this is a real treat to fire. as for the laser test, LASERMAX has really come through with a winner with this new low-profile mod. every shot went into the pulsing dot and i have yet to bench test and zero everything. this gun and its equipment is a keeper so far.
soon i hope to find the chance to bench test....

Very nice! I just picked up a 327 R8, which is almost identical to yours, except the bottom rail on the barrel is permanent, not removable.

I chose the Aimpoint Micro H-1 for the top rail, and have been seriously considering the LaserMax LMS-UNI (red) like yours, but I'm also tempted by their new LMS-UNI-G (green). But the green one cost twice as much!

Do you find the UNI bright enough in daylight?

I like the UNI because the laser beam itself is so close to the barrel. You still have the option of mounting a light off the bottom of the UNI. This is much better than having the light first, with the laser underneath it, like the Streamlights, and most others I've seen.

How was your gun's action, right out of the box? I was disappointed for a gun coming from the S&W Performance Center. The SA had some creep, and the DA seems pretty heavy. The cylinder spinning on the crane bearing was not as smooth as it should be. Mine is going to require a little tweaking before it's to my liking. I think because of the intended purpose of this firearm, they may have left the action a little on the safe side, vs how they might tune a target revolver.

Your gun looks great! Compared to mine, my Aimpoint looks puny. :o

the lasermax red isnt all too bad in the daytime, the trick on bright conditions is to start the dot a few meters in front of you and walk it out to the target. i dont know if the green laser would be all too much mroe helpful, we had a ton of lasers in baghdad and the green ones were just as difficut to see as the red in the sunlight. consider yourself lucky that you have an integral rail on the bottom instead of detachable, less worries about the rail loosening up on you! however, you couldnt go with a better laser system, the thing is so low-profile and right below the barrel you only need minimal adjustments and youre where you want to be. dont second guess it.
i put a lot of consideration into getting the micro aimpoint, and in retrospect i still wonder if i should have gotten one. if i remember right, the biggest selling point for me on the one i bought was the 2X magnification. its my first pistol with an optic and i wanted to make it just look crazy and i think i accompliched whati was going for :-)

I know what you mean about wanting to make it look crazy...crazyer than it already looks! I even tried an EOTech for grins. It was the shorter one that uses the N batteries. Now that looked crazy! But to be honest, it actually appeared to be functional, and very effective!

I meant to mention in my previous thread, myself, family, and friends want to thank you for your service, and sacrifices in the military!
