I've got a Ruger Bisley Super Blackhawk that I've modified the front sight blade to be a thinner than 1/8". I need a rear sight with a narrow'er notch or a rear sight blank that I can cut a notch in.

Does anyone know where I can find such?

Check Brownells part #780-015-001

http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=12241&title=SIGHT+BLADE%2c+REAR%2c+W%2fO+NOTCHhttp://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=12241&title=SIGHT+BLADE%2c+REAR%2c+W%2fO+NOTCH

$5.68

Is that what you're looking for?

"SIGHT BLADE, REAR, W/O NOTCH"

Yeah, We (Brownells and I), thought that meant 'With Out Notch'.

I ordered one.. No... Two.

WHITE OUTLINE NOTCH is what they sent. Twice.. I ordered one, then got the White Outline. Called, and they said they'd send the correct one.

Nope. Still a White Outline. Called again and they can't find anything like what I'm looking for.

How about replacing the whole rear sight with an all-steel Bowen Rough Country?
They have one model with a blank blade so you can cut your own notch to suit.

Some people would just call me a cheap old ba5tard Dutchman. I'm certainly not Dutch. But have you ever heard of putting a $100 saddle on a $10 horse?

My truck cost right near $40,000. I just put some fancy tires and wheels on it for ~$2400. Ok, it's much more appealing, much more utilitarian. So for 6% of total value I got a great improvement.

The revolver is ~$450. 6% of that would be a $25 improvement.

While replacing the complete rear sight is an option, It is a bit extreme to spend $80+ (plus still modify it), on what I consider to be a $15 solution since I am quite happy with the durability of the factory Ruger sight.

I'll make one and cold blue it if I have to, but I was hoping someone knew of a place I could purchase just a sight blank.

Some of folks consider a better steel rear sight an improvement on the Ruger.

Sorry I got you all riled up!

Also sorry I can't be of any help!

They do make a peep sight rear for the Ruger. Let me know if you're interested in that at all and I'll send you the link.

Flat black spray paint on that white outline won't work?

Peep would depend upon the diameter of the aperature. Hmmm?

The problem with the W/O rear sight blank from Brownells is that it's intended to be a like replacement for the factory one. Notch dimmensions are the same as the factory one.

I'm looking for a notch that's about half that size.

The one for the Ruger looks a little large for what you want (although ghost ring type sights always worked well for me. The Winchester version may be more like what you're looking for. If you could get that to fit maybe?

While the peep sight is tempting, I've measured my front blade to be .085". I think the 7/32" One Ragged Hole sight might be fine for a factory front blade. I figure I need something between .065" and .075" for a notched blank, or maybe .1" for a peep. Since OneRaggedHole.com makes these, I've sent them an email asking if they'll send me a blank without hole or notch.

Thanx for the link/research.

RCMODEL, You didn't get me all riled up.. Not at all. I'm just a cheapskate and have this narrow set of sights concept stuck in my head.

Can you have your friendly neighborhood welder TIG in the existing notch and then recut it with files to the dimensions you want?

I agree with Clemson. Just weld up the notch in the old when then file it down to what you want then notch it. You could even use JB weld and black paint to geterdone.

Spent my time there for the Iran-Iraq war on big gray boats in the latter 80's.

But as an Aviation Electrician, I had worked everything from Helo's, turbo props to jets. Fuel control, hydraulics, instrumentation, power control, pods, flight control right down to running a battery locker. My hobbies were also restoring hotrods and building engines, transmissions and differentials. I've pour'ed concrete, framed houses, hung sheetrock, siding and roofing. I was a ship yard welder for a bit. Been an industrial operator, worked at a garbage dump running heavy equipment to boilers and steam turbine generators. Now I've been a computer systems administrator for ten years.

There isn't much I can't do if I put my mind to it. Thus the name my friends gave me some 25 years ago.
