Now I have found both NIB. Price is too close to make a diff. No experience with a Browning Gold or 1187, but miss my old 1100. What's everyones experience with these two?

11-87 is VERY close to the 1100 (if not exact cosmetically), and you have experience with it so I say go with that. I own an 11-87 and like it very much with no malfunctions, but I clean it after every time I go out. The 11-87 has more aftermarket too. My father and brother shoot Golds, and they have not have any issues either. My dad's is a wood stock and to get a synthetic has been a large PITA for him, and I think only Browning will sell him one for very high price. Hope this helps.

I love my Brownings but I've found it can be difficult and expensive to buy parts for them if something breaks. Fortunately this hasn't happened yet but when it does I have a feeling it's going to take a while to fix. I usually spend more time shooting my Remingtion 1187 and 870 out at the local clays range than I do with my Brownings. The Remingtons are easy to find parts for. If you have a reciever you can just about buy everything you need from Brownells to build a complete gun. If you plan on shooting the 1187 alot some of the things you should have available are the rubber o-rings that go around the magazine tube, an extra piston ring, and an extra action spring. The rubber o rings are pretty cheap to buy and should be replaced every 900 or 1000 rds or so. I haven't broken a piston ring yet but I've heard from other people that these can sometimes break. The 1187 isn't one of the most cleanest gas operated actions but you should be able to go 800 to 1000 rds before it's time to give the magazine tube and piston assembly a good cleaning.

I'd hold off and get another 1100.
Simply because it sounds as if you were one with a 1100 and there is LOT to be said for staying with what works for a person.
Of the two choices? Browning Gold.
I feel the 1100 is a much better gun than the 11-87 ever hopes to be.
The Gold is similar to a SX2, in fact the same person had a hand in these designs.
Now I am very very biased toward the Win Super X Model 1.
Same fellow that did the SX1, had the input on the Gold and SX2
I was never impressed with the 11-87 when it came out back in the day, solution to a non-existent problem...oh, and the minor detail it did not do well with the round counts and all WE were using shotguns were when they come out of the gate
1100s were...still going strong. Granted I prefer the original gas systems set up....
