Narrowing a search

So I try to "search". Say I want to find loads for .223. I don't want every thread on .223 or every one with "loads". If I type ".223+loads" it still comes up as everything with either word in the title or thread itself. How do I narrow it down?

Say hello to our little retarded search engine!
Your best bet is to use Google like so:
site:http://www.thehighroad.org 223 loads
or if you want 223 and loads to be next to each other:
site:http://www.thehighroad.org "223 loads"
Actually, the native search engine does what it is supposed to do when searching "entire posts". You get a list of posts that have both "223" and "loads" in it somewhere. You have to determine if that post is actually discussing 223 loads or not. The problem is all words in the search list are highlighted everywhere in the thread, so a lot more posts look like they were found.
As far as searching titles only for a combination of words - it's broke. Never has worked properly, probably never will.

so if I listed .22 rimfire pistol I'd get everything that has ".22" "rimfire", and "pistol"?
I'm pretty much a computer idjit so I thought it was something I was going wrong

Sorry, but no, and only because you included the term ".22". The search data base doesn't include 2 character terms (the period is ignored). For that specific example, the search would be for "rimfire" and "pistol" since almost all rimfire these days are .22's anyway. ;)

I feel better, much better, it's not just me...sometimes I post a question and an administrator answers with a reply, sometimes sharply, that I need to use the search engine or 'search' option on the forum....not specifically here, but AK forums, etc.
When I enter what I think is a good search query, I get a page with 150 posts and 250 threads under each post (slight exaggeration), but I understand the frustration.
And some south ends of horses just like to sit and ridicule.
There are some wonderful handloading pages just out on the net. That's where I go....
Ammoguide is member but a pitance if you like to read and learn, other free sites, powder and ammo manufacturers, etc.....
Hope this helps
