Smith Mod 27 production date?

I recently was reunited with a Smith Mod 27, 5" that has been in the family for years. I am trying to determine its manufacture date and am having a difficult time finding production dates by serial number.

The serial number is S197722.

Does anyone have any info that would help? I'd certainly appreciate it.
