Rear Sight replacement, 686

I don't have a caliper accurate enough to measure the thickness of the rear site blade on my 686-1. If I were to send it to Smith and Wesson and ask for a replacement do you think they would have an issue? I, of course, would pay for it. I noticed that at Midway, and other places, the rear blades are listed by thickness. Is there any way to know the thickness other than a caliper? Did the 686-1 come with multiple thicknes blades?

The rear blade size is the height not the thickness. The size varies based on the barrel length.
You can call S&W customer service and they can tell you the size your gun originally had. They can also sell you the correct height blade and replacement windage screw and nut.
Good Luck...

Thanks, that makes sense. I'll give them a call and see what I can find out. I appreciate the help.
