Just thought I would pass this along.
I've got 4 of the Gorrilla brand treestands and have found them to very good, quiet, and comfortable stands. I went out to hang a new one for the first time and found a cut in the strap that fastens it to the tree. (boxcutter?) Called thier customer service and explained the situation and they are sending a new strap out right away- no charge. Very good service. Yeah, I know they are made in China but good product and good value.

Well, I have a tripod because there ain't any trees big enough or straight enough where I hunt for a tree stand. Some on this site think I'm unethical for sitting in any kind of a stand anyway.

If I hunted east Texas' piney woods much, I'd get me one of them climbing tree stands. :D Sounds like it might pay to inspect 'em once in a while, though, and keep the straps and stuff in good order.

I bowhunt- a lot. Been bowhunting almost 25 years. I've killed deer from the ground on occaision. But around here, with mixed woodlots, creekbottoms, and farm fields, tree stand hunting works best. There are some essential safety rules that should be strictly followed when we leave the ground.
I live and hunt in the rural NW central part of Illinois and there are more whitetail here than ever. I hunt some areas that must have a density of over 20 per square mile. Our corn fed deer get big, too. Mature does can go 160 pounds or more and bucks will often top 200. I've seen 2 bow-killed bucks scale at 254 and 270.

I've been using a Gorrilla now for a couple seasons, good stuff. Some foam tape will work wonders for cutting the noise on it down.

Mine are strap ons. I haven't had any noise issues.
I am currently using 9 portable treestands, 4 are gorrillas. the others are a mix of brands, some strap and a couple chain mounts.
Somebody used to sell a "strap saver". I wish I could find them but I haven't seen them in years. They were a cordura sleeve that would slip over the strap to protect from abrasion and UV damage.
The only other problem I ever have is squirrels eating the seat cushions.
I use screw-in tree steps if I hunt the same spot year after year and I just leave them in, otherwise I use stick ladders. I have one lightweight silverback aluminum stand and aluminum strap on step sections that I keep available for occaisions when I discover a real hot spot or unusual situations when I want to be able to sneak in and set up fast and quiet. I can pack it all in at once on my back without using the 4 wheeler, making extra trips, or disturbing the area any more than absolutely necessary.
Our season opened yesterday but it's real warm. sposed to hit 90 this weekend! yuck. give me a cool drizzling rain or some frost instead. I'll be out and I won't pass on a trophy buck, but that's to hot to shoot meat deer.

I've got a gorilla climber and like it a lot. Just took it up a tree this morning, testing it out and getting it ready for the coming season.

I started using a Gorilla climber last year and I love it. I used to be a strictly "API guy" before I got the Gorilla.
