Well.....i did it. I knew i would it was just a matter of time.
I visited my local shop today and walked out with a new S&W 1911. I got it for $740 with three Wilson Combat mags.
This was a little unusual i thought since i was pretty sure it only came with 2. Not sure.
Anyway....I can't wait to get to the range this weekend and use it to put a few hundred down range. As far as I can tell this is a well put together 1911 and on the surface seems to be better made than my Kimber Custom II.....and that is saying alot.
I will let you know how it goes...
One other thing.....i know that the early run of SW 1911's were put together by the performance center.....how can i tell if this is one of those.....the serial is JRD28xx

Congrats on the new gun!! I'm sure you're gonna like it. I've had mine for a few months now. Well put together gun, with quality parts. I compared it several different Kimbers before I bought and the S&W just seemed to be put together better. Not a lot of difference, but enough to make my choice easy.

Good shooter too...

Mine is #362, but it only came with 2 47D's. I've read that the first few production runs were assembled and fitted in the Performance Center, until the regular production line folks could be trained, but I've never heard when the cut over was made. I'll bet a quick call to S&W customer service and you could find out.

Have Fun...

Joe

Well.....i just got a response from S&W saying that up till a couple of weeks ago they were still being fitted and put together by the PC.
SO maybe i got one that was.
