What types/makes of shotgun action cause shells to deform when they are stored?

I know from personal experience that a magazine-fed semiauto like the Saiga-12 causes shells to deform when it's stored, meaning the gun will jam because of a deformed cartridge.

Do semiauto tube magazine guns also do this?

Pump action?

I would hope that a break-action doesn't.

Shells kept in tube mags too long will telescope and/or leak.

Cure, shoot the stuff up every few months and replace with new ammo.

FTFY.

I've never had a problem with deformation, and haven't heard of any, just from sitting in the mags.

Do you mean the shell in the chamber or the shells in the magazine? I have seen rounds (rifle and shotgun) left in the chamber too long expand and give problems in extraction. How long depends on the weather and climate conditions. I had some old paper shells stored in the boxes and forgotten for about 20 years that actually swelled enough (stored in a dry basement) that the brass cracked.

I mean the last shell in the magazine, when it's stored on a closed bolt in a Saiga, will deform.

I haven't looked at a saiga so I don't know what the magazine follower looks like. I would think that all the shells would have the same pressure put on them. If the others don't get deformed, I guess I would look at how the follower presses against that last shell.

The Russkies have copper-dipped steel-case shotshells. Saw a few boxes of them at a friend's house, with Russkie writing all over the boxes. He's got all sorts of weird stuff people give him when they clean out their garages.

I'm thinking that those won't deform in a Saiga.
