I'd be really careful about it. There was a really long thread about some people who had problems with the SS-109 over at the AR-15 forum. Check out the search function over there.

I'd stick with the 55 gr stuff for plinking.

Olympic pistol ammo (Greece) doesn't have the best reputation. Don't know if this is true for their .223 ammo.

If loaded to NATO specs, should be fine.

Best bet is to call Eric at www.ammoman.com -he is a good guy and a straight shooter. He will not lie to you about any problems he may find about ammo he sells. I have been buying from him for years and have never been ripped-off and I never give up an opportunity to say good things about him.

I had some ss-109 and it shot wierd. The stuff tumbled hideously out of a 16 in barrel. At 100 yds I'd be lucky to get 30% of my shots into a pie plate from bench. By Georgia Arms remanufactured if your looking to save.

Stay away from it. That stuff wouldn't function in the three AR's I tried it in. I ended up sending what was left of the case back to Eric.

It may work in rifles with different gas systems, but it doesn't generate enough pressure to function an AR-15.
We also discovered the outside diameter of the brass is .005 larger than it's supposed to be which adds to the problem by creating more drag.

There is better stuff available for the same money.

I forgot to mention that the above comments refer to the Olympic SS109.
Winchester also makes SS109 green tip which is excellent ammo but scarce.

My Wal-Mart has 40 round boxes of Winchester 55 grain .223 @ 7.58/box. That is the best price I have ever seen for "big 3" brand .223.

I have a case of the Israeli SS109 that shoots just fine out of my ARs. Bought it from Eric back when he sold Israeli SS109!

I must have purchased from a good lot because it shoots accurately and clocks 2988fps from my mini-14. I am impressed!
