In a few weeks I will be going to New Orleans and i want to bring my firearm with me. Here in TX, without a CHL we are allowed to carry in our own vehicles as long as it is concealed. Does the same apply for LA? thanks

In Louisiana, your car is like your home. You can have a loaded gun in the car anytime.

You man NOT have it concealed on your person in the car without a carry permit.

You may carry openly. That's legal, but not all the police are aware of this, nor do they all approve, which means you could get confronted.

Note that the NOPD is notorious. This is just as true after Katrina. Not people you want to "experiment" on unless you don't mind spending several days in the local jail while they "find" your paperwork.

No, you don't need to leave it home. Just follow Tom's solid advice and you'll be fine.
