Okay - decided to reload - and once I'm into it - there's going to be a lot of ammo to be stored - just don't tell my neighbors :neener:
Anyhoo - what is the best method to store the ammo? The boxes won't really work for me. I was tossing around the idea of buying ammo boxes - go figure - and fill them up. Would this suffice, or is there a better way to store the ammo?
Thanks!

I know a couple people who use dryboxes. Personally, I'm saving the boxes from my shells so I'll have a place to count 'em out neatly into sets of 25, and will fish some out of the barrel at the range if I run out. It seems to me that regualr boxes really are the best way, just packed in cases. But if that won't work, then there's those dryboxes.
Also, there's a company that makes a neat range case for four boxes of shells and a set of choke tubes. You could tote around a hundred shells in there pretty neatly wihtout boxes too.

For reloads, and lots of them, I often use 5 gallon paint buckets and just fill 'em up. Lids are nice, as you can stack them easier. You can also label the lids with a Sharpie if your making them up with different recipes.

TrapperReady,
I agree.
Green is my preferred color followed by white. :)

BTW, if you're worried about the neighbors, paint buckets are great "camo". There's nothing threatening about a few buckets in the garage. Also, I like the ones that have a wider plastic handle over the wire. When fully loaded with shells, they're kinda heavy.
I haven't reloaded much in the past couple years, but I still keep some 5-gal buckets in the garage. When I clean out the bed of my truck or our shooting bags, all the loose shells go into the buckets. When my wife and I are just shooting for practice, we'll often just grab a bucket and use the "leftovers".

Not overly worried about the neighbors- one is just really uptight/anal and very nosey. I have stacks of shotshell cases on the shelf and he's made a few comments like "going to war" My smart alec response - only if it comes to me. He's a freak. Oh well. Can't pick your neighbors.

Cat litter buckets. At least when I can pry them away from WW. She's an arts and crafts maven and uses them for projects with her clients. She works with disabled adults.
Boxes here are recycled from the range. Remington boxes, among others, open up and can be flattened thus storage space is minimized.
My range box was a Hechinger's tool box. It has space for 9 boxes of shells or over 200 empties. A tray at the top holds tools, choke tubes, lube, etc. Total cost, $9 on sale.
