Mec Gar Ghost Ring?

Anyone used the Mec Gar ghost ring rear site? I am building another gun and wanted to try something different than a Scatter Gun rear.
A buddy has an MMC and while I really like the apeture and the protective wings the windage adjustment is held by two tiny screws. I'm sure it will work fine but I would prefer something that looks a little more solid. All I have seen of the Mec Gar is profile shots so I have no idea how it works. I do note that it's apeture is even bigger than the MMC's, should "ghost" out really well.

I've never used them because of the price - most places I've seen wanted well over $250 for the Mec-Gar set, some over $300. Too rich for my blood!

Brownells has the rear site listed for $100, less if you get the dealers discount. This is the same really as a Scattergun unit. I am looking for "something different" to try out etc....

These sights are now called LPA. Vang Comp Systems charges $250 for the set, installed with tritium in the front sight. The price includes refinishing the shotgun.
If I do it right, there should be picture of the sights. The front sight has a fiber optic front sight because it shows up better in photos.

Am I correct in thinking that the large screw seen in the front of the rear site give elevation and that the side screw windage?
I like these screws better as they seem more substantial than the tiny MMC windage stop screws. I see a set of these in my shotgun's future! Thank you very much!
Next stupid question-how is the front attached? Is it soldered on or glued in place ?
How do you like yours DML? I am especially interested in the winged front site and how you like it, it seems to sit rather high.
I think Brownells has these and the dealer cost is a whole lot better than $250. Will check my catalog.

This particular front sight is silver brazed on the barrel. That's why the higher cost. Hand labor is expensive. LPA also make a nice clamp-on front sight that works very well. The front blade is adjustable for height and the rear sight has a lot more adjustment then any other shotgun rear sight.
The front sight is the same height and MMC and Wilson/Scattergun. It just looks higher because of the wings.
I have MMC sights on my 870s, because they are 5 years old. If I were to build myself a new 870, I would use LPA. We have had no complaints from our customers.
