I have been to my fifth USPSA match now. I was shooting my P229 9mm but I am now a .45 fan. I have shot my XD45 Tactical a couple of times and even though it is a fine weapon I really like shooting my Sig 220 compact alot more. Sigs feel more solid IMHO.

Would you recommend a 220 full size with 10 round mags, or my 220 compact with 10 round mags (there would be a gap below the grip and mag base).

I really want to go Sig & .45 What configuration do you recommend? Im not a big 1911 platform fan.

Thanks

Fullsize P220 10 round mag. I shoot a P226ST in .40 S&W fro USPSA and I love it.

I've been thinking of taking my XD Tactical 40 out as well, but it needs serious work before I compete with it.

no kidding, dont get me wrong, I like my XD, but after shooting a Sig, you get spolied. Ho many rounds on that 226ST?

Only about 2K total rounds on the ST. I actually own two, but the other is reverse two tone so I keep it as a back up. I really love it, but I would like to have some work done on it. I plan on sending it to Bruce gray some day soon.

Would you be able to use the 220 in the single stack division?

Unfortunately Single stack doesn't mean single stack anything. It means 1911 only for the most part. I asked the same question for a single stack S&W 645. Even though it is a Single stack gun, it would have to compete in L10 or Production since it's a SA/DA gun. While the 220 would work in L10, there just aren't all that many out there. I know someone who used to shoot one, and they soon upgraded to an SVI for L10.

I like the Sigs also, I shoot a 229 for production, but the Glocks pretty much dominate that and other guns dominate the other divisions. I say shoot what you have though.. If you can do ok, then more power to you.

Walked into my local Sig dealer yesterday. I was going to get the CPO 220 but ended up getting the Equinox 220. What a beautifull piece of work. Shot it last night at the USPSA match and loved it and got lots of compliments.

The only setback was that the light load .45 ammo I had would not cycle the ammo, ended up trading ammo and had a good time.
