nosler B-tips vs Hornady vmax

Which of these two is least explosive in 6mm 70grain Nosler B-tip or Horn V-max 75 grain.
I need a light wieght bullet for my 6x45 for close range deer hunting. I also have a few Starke 80 grain flat base bullets that I may try as well. The velocity really starts to drop off fast over 80 grains in this case.
Thanks

The difference between the two is probably going to be a "wash".
I'd use the Hornady 75gr HP.
I've used it (.257" version) extensively in a .257Roberts, and have taken a number of deer with it. It expanded well, but held together sufficiently to completely penetrate broadside shots at ranges over 200yds where it'd had time to slow down some. (chrono'd at 3,550fps from my .257Robt.)
I've also used and seen used the 80gr Remington Soft point in .243". It does as well as the heavier bullets if shots are placed decently.
You'll probably get decent results with either of the two bullets you mentioned at the velocities you'll be running them.
Try both and let us know how they did !!!!

The 6MM BT and the 6MM V-Max are Varmint bullets, not designed for deer sized game.

I agree with steve4102. Spring for the $20 and buy 100 bullets intended for larger game. In my opinion 6mm is somewhat marginal. With a varmint rounds it is downright cruel. Just my 2 cents.

I agree neither one is suitable for deer hunting, even at 6mm x .223 velocitys.
They will still blow up inside a coyote at 400 yards out of a .243, and thats less then 2,000 fps at that range.

OK how about a 90 grain bullet from 6x45?
a little history, I have used the 80 grain stark bullets for years in a 243 winchester for deer and never lost one deer. The kills were swift. Then I switched over to nosler partitions. The first deer I shot ran a country mile, then I shot another that I did not recover. I still have that box of nosler bullets but needless to say I don't use them.
I went back to the Starke 80 grain bullets with great success. Unfortunately I'm down to 1/2 box of starke bullets
Is your objection to the bullets or the 6x45 case?
How do you feel about a 6.5 grendel? I'm getting a hunting rifle built on a Ruger mini platform and these are two of the options. I already have reloading gear for the 6x45 but never used it on deer. maybe a new thread would be better.--thanks for opinions
How would you stack

There are plenty of "Hunting" bullets in 6mm that will work well in your 6MM-223. Nosler Ballistic Tips in 90 and 95gr would be an excellent choice. The 85gr Hornady Interbond would be another great choice. Speer Hot-Core, Sierra Pro Hunter and Sierra Gamekings would also make a pretty good deer round. The 75's you originally asked about are for Varmints not deer sized game.
As for the Grendel vs 6x45, I would go with the Grendel. I have my Mini being rebarreled as we speak. I could not decide on whether to go with the 7.62x308 or 6.5 Grendel. IMO the Grendel beats em all, the 6.8SPC, 7.62x308, 6mmx45 and the 6mm PPC. That being said, I went with the 7.62x308, mainly because I have lots of new Lapua brass and I am geared up for the 7.62. I would still like ASI to build me a Mini in 6.5 Grendel in the near future.

Take a look at the 85 grain Barnes Triple Shocks....SWEET bullets, but a little pricey!
