A good bit of info from an M.D. You just never know where you'll find a gun nut

I managed to crack my powder funnel the other night by rolling over it with my chair. So the next day I run down to local reloading supply supplier for a few things.
Blue dot powder?
No problem.
FMJ .311 bullets for my 7.62X54R?
Peice of cake.
125 gr kryptonite bullets in case Superman starts using his X-ray vision to peep at The Wife?
We have them in soft point and HP.
Powder funnel?
What's that?
That little funnel that you use to get powder into your cases?
Never heard of it.

So now I have to mail order my powder funnel for 5.99 plus 3.95 S&H. So last night I was complaining about this to a resp therapist I work with when the resident doctor on duty walks up and hands me two of those ear funnels for the otoscope and says, "I've been using these for years." Turns out they work for anything bigger than a .22 cal. I didn't even know he was a shooter. Next weekend we're going out to the range for a little R&R. Just wish The Wife would quit calling it a playdate. And to think that all this time I've said that residents were useless.

Greeting's Okie-

You are correct, as I have a friend/co-worker who
is an Orthopedic Surgeon and he really is into guns;
especially handguns. We talk all the time about the
different trends in makes and models. I have been
trying to convert him form Glock's, Smith's, and 1911's
to SIG's of course! Take Care-

Best Wishes,

Ala Dan,

That's mighty irresponsible of you, sir.

He should be adding to his collection, not getting rid of it. Unless of course you are intending to purchase those he wants to get rid. Then that's definitely the right thing to do. :neener:

Saw my family MD yesterday (after a three-week wait for the appointment). His opening question didn't concern my health: "Been prairie dog hunting yet this summer?"

I answered in the affirmative: Middle of May and I'm going again next week end.

He and his wife had gone in late May to the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota and expended 652 cartridges in two days. "I thought it was a pretty good hunt," he said.

Can't remember whether we discussed my health or not.

The AMA may be our anti gun enemy but like a lot of the Unions that are demorat/anti gun, the "rank and file" members are pro gun but you don't hear much about them.

My doctor has been on big game hunts to Africa twice.

He raised his price for an office visit after the second one.:(

Side note,
He said the second hunt was where there is a lot of Aids but nobody dies from Aids. WHAT?
He said many times another cause of death is put down.
So the figures you see on the news are BS.
But what isn't BS on the news.

The AMA is a lot like the ABA, IME.

My dentist likes to talk about .22s and squirrel hunting. Of course, this is while he is cleaning my teeth. It's a one-side conversation.:D

My dentist is a Camp Perry smallbore competitor. One of his hygenists is a hunter.

The animal doc across the street when I was a kid is a Camp Perry shooter.

A couple of guys I went to school with are shooters, and I didn't find this out till I went to the 25th class reunion last summer.

I didn't start shooting as a civilian till I was 35.

And to think that all this time I've said that residents were useless.

They usually are but they can be depended upon to eat up any and all food in the breakroom unless physically restrained:) .

Over the last 10 years I have offered probably 80-100 residents the chance to go shooting for free with me. Only 2 have ever taken me up on it and one was already a gunowner.
