Hey Yall, I read here a lot but don't post often (Lurker). I have an old Mossberg 500 that I would like to put Ghost Ring sights on. Has anyone had any luck with epoxy to attach them? I would like to avoid D&T'ing the receiver if possible and I have not soldered before. Any suggestions would be helpful.

500 receivers are aluminum, solder won't work. I would say epoxy will last until you actually shoot it.

D&T is the only sure bet.

Anyone know what size drill bit and tap I would need. The sight came with the screws but no description listing the size.

I bought the factory barrel & GR Kit. The front post is already attached, the rear GR screws into the receiver. Last time I checked they didn't list on their web site but an e-mail inquiry resulted in a part number from them and I was able to call in the order. Waiting period wasn't too bad...had it in a couple weeks as I recall.

I paid about $130, and I kept the old barrel as a spare for one of my other Mossbergs. You could sell or trade the old barrel to off-set some of your cost.

It's the best route I know to go where the sight/barrel arrangement will be rock solid guaranteed. Two of my shooting buddies have also gone with the Factory Barrel & GR Kit with good results.

I paid 70$ for a seized firearm from a LE shop. The barrel used to be marine coated and has the plain bead. Even if I ordered the new barrel I would have to D&T the receiver to mount the Ghost Ring Sight as this is an older shotgun and not allready D&T'd for a mount.

The barrel finish is very beat up and I'm going to duracoat the barrel, receiver and magtube to the marine coat color. I just need to resolve the ghost ring mounting and then the rest is cake. :)

You could try accraglas from brownells. I put a front sight on a mauser in 30-06 with it two years ago, it's still there. jim
