Okay I'm sure this is basic knowledge but it's something I've not worked with before - I want to refinish the stock on my PSL because, like a lot of them, the finish it has now isn't all that great. Not bad, but not all that great. Can anyone tell the the basic steps and materials I'd need? Or point me in the direction of them?

I also saw a guy who customized his a bit by throwing in some red dye of some sort that gave it a rosewood look(someone said you could use food coloring or almost anything). It'd be cool to give that a try as well but I'm not sure about the whole process. Thanks ahead of time for any help!

said he used "red with a little brown rit dye"? and "tru oil to shine it up". Guess I'll do some researching on those products

well i'm sorry to say i don't have any pics yet but it's the exact same gun as in the picture (it's a PSL or Romanian Dragunov or Romak III, goes by a lot of names). Very nice job on the SKS by the way.

redid the finifh on my 03a3. i used a bichwood-casey tru oil kit. worked great. the wanut stain that comes with the kit is just a plain water based stain. a quick trip to the home store and you could pick out any color you want. just take your time and follow the directions that come with the kit.

thanks for the suggestion. i'll definately go check out one of those kits when i get the chance. now i'll have to figure out how to get the stock seperated from all the metal without breaking anything.
