Trying to date my Iver Johnson 38 revolver. Anyone out there good with the early IJs?Free wheels in all hammer positions. Patents on butt "June16,96 Aut 25,9?. Ser# T29682. Ser# repeated on trigger guard. Flat spring. Owl heads on grups face forward. Bronze colored receiver. I can send photos.

Google Bill Goforth. He's written books on Ivers. I have a bunch of them and he's always answered my emailed questions. Seems like a nice guy. He's the IJ expert.

Keep in mind the grips can be replaced so they are not useful in finding the age of an IJ or any other old gun for that matter...
