I bought a CZ75 recently and I just store it in the case it came with. What is the best way to store a handgun? Is it ok if I just used a Pelican 1400 or Winchester pistol carrying case and stored it in there all the time?

I believe they best way to store a handgun, or any gun, is out of the case, so air can circulate, and moisture cannot accumulate in the lining of the case and be held against the guns finish.

I have seen many fine guns ruined by rust inside a zipper gun case.

If you live in an unusually dry climate, inside a climate-controlled house, it might not be a problem.
But why risk it?

In my experience storing a pistol in its plastic box is NOT a good idea. That invites moisture to collect and that invites rust. I suggest that you store the gun in a locked, well ventilated, place. When stored I tend to over lubricate mine and examine them periodically as rust never rests. Homak makes some pretty good, metal storage cabinets and I suggest that you take a look.

If you desire to keep handguns in a pistol rug, then lubricate well and place
in "Sack-Ups"; before storage. The impregnated "Sack-Ups" help prevent
mositure from reaching the weapons surface~! :scrutiny:;):D

Can't claim credit for this idea, but it struck me as something that could be adapted for long term storage of much gun related stuff. One guy mentioned vacuum sealing his on his wife's food vacuum sealer. Just clean it, spray it down with any good gun preservative, slip it in the bag, suck out the air, and Voila!

Why not just use a Pelican brand case? They are damp-proof and water-proof.
