I've been eyeing this Gerber at Wallyworld for a while, just 22 bucks, a drop point fixed blade. I've been fighting the urge to buy it, but finally gave in. I have a nice Gator Serrator I use in the field, love that thing, a very ergonomic non-slip folder. It is great for gutting in the field and I've used it a lot for butchering. I have a case Kodiak Hunter I've used to butcher, but it's big and not that easy to use, though sharp.
Well, this little thing TAKES and edge, shaving edge, talkin' face hairs here, not arm. For 22 bucks I was a little surprised. It's light, rather ergonomic like the Gator, think I'm going to like this thing. The serrated edge on that Gator is great for cutting the sternum, but gets in the way for general skinning and butchering. Too, fixed blade knives are one HECK of a lot easier to clean up.
