October 14, 2007, 01:55 PM
for years i've been happy with my .22 high standard, highly modified 1911, sig 220, and keep a md 15 cause its so darn accurate. never really paid attention to the "which nine" threads. however, i won't explain, i'm thinking about a nine. please update me. i hate making a fool of myself.:o thanks rjk

Well good God, you didn't give us anything to direct with. Is it target work, home defense, concealed carry, open carry, etc. Easiest thing to do is start with all the guns you can think of, HK, SIG, FN, Glock, CZ, Beretta, SA, S&W, etc, and try to fire as many as you can, or at least handle them.

From your original list, narrow down to what you like, what handles well, and what you can afford.

I don't know what exactly you are looking for, but I will say get a Glock :D But seriously, if you want a 9mm and you already have a P220, why not get another Sig? A P226/228/229/239 whatever fits your needs.

I like Glocks in 9mm and Sigs in 9mm. I recommend the Sig 228.

As Setzer77 says - go try 'em on. I personally love the IDEA of a Glock, and can shoot one pretty well (I've rented 'em frequently over the years) but they just don't feel right in my hand, so I've never bought one. For ME, nothing FEELS better in my hand than my Browning Hi Power with a Hogue grip. It's what I use for IDPA. The CZ 75 feels about the same and is double action, and if I ever decide to change competition classes I'd look pretty hard at one of those. But that's just me - you have to find your own favorite.

yeah you really didn't give us much to work with so i will give a few and maybe later you can give us some more info on what your needs are. the following should be perfect for about everything you might need one for.
sa xd
glock 19/17 etc.
sig dak trigger
h&k p2000 lem trigger
s&w m&p

as you can see i like dao type handguns, but there are plenty great other models out there that are da/sa as well as single action.

browning hp
sig non dak models
h&k usp and other models non lem
ruger kp95

those are a few but that should be plenty tp get you started. i suggest that you go somewhere feel all over em and the ones you like take em out and rent em if you can, heck rent and shoot all of em.

More...info...needed! There are a ton of quality 9mm guns to pick from. Just about every reputable manufacturer makes a great 9mm, but they each have their strengths and possible disadvantages. What are you looking for in a gun? A list of criteria would help immensely.

October 14, 2007, 06:02 PM
Glock 17 if you are able to conceal a large pistol.

Glock 26 if you need to conceal it in thin attire.

I am really happy with my CZ 75 Compact (satin nickle) 9mm.:D

Another recommendation of the most wonderfully balanced handgun of all time

The SIG-SAUER P228~! ;):D

October 14, 2007, 06:39 PM
+1 Ruger P95, P89
-1 Taurus 24/7
+1 CZ - my next auto will be a CZ75, or a Jericho 941 (CZ derived, Cowboy Bebop fan...) if I can find one for decent $.

Oh no, you've opened up Pandora's 9mm Box. This thread will go to 9 pages if you don't severely narrow down your criteria here VERY soon...

October 14, 2007, 08:05 PM
You have a ton of choices here. Are you looking for a conceal carry, mid size, or full size?

October 14, 2007, 08:31 PM
wow thanks for all the responses; i'll try to narrow things:

bhp-nice but similar platform as my supermatic; wouldn't want to carry it c & l

228-for sure --if i could find one-- for less than the price of a car

xd-it does fit; need more pros and cons

beretta 92- never

taurus-:barf: mho

1911- this is a target range gun for me- i am not comfortable with c & l for carry; that's for my 220

i would like more info on the new "gidgited" triggers;

this gun would be range recreation and maybe carry

Low dollar guns..........M&P9 and CZ75........

October 14, 2007, 08:35 PM
oh and i would surely have a Glock--if they only made them fit:cuss:

October 14, 2007, 09:07 PM
M&P9 or Glock 19.

or...if you want something a little nicer:

Springfield Armory EMP.

October 14, 2007, 09:29 PM
Walther P99

October 15, 2007, 02:06 PM
After a terrible time with a brand new Kimber, I traded it in for a new Glock 19.
The Glock 19 ate everything I fed it and then some. Can't go wrong with a Glock!

October 15, 2007, 05:16 PM
i wish i could shoot a Glock. can't everything goes high-- so since i don't see a 228 in the near future, would i be happy with a xd or mp? i haven;t shot either enough to know. can anyone out there compare these to a sig?

October 15, 2007, 05:19 PM
Remember to look at the CZ75. you can have them for even less than the XD or M&P, and they are fantastic.

October 15, 2007, 06:50 PM
ok but whose 9mm is best?

October 15, 2007, 06:55 PM
a similar poll i cant find says Glock 17 is #1 followed by browning hi power but i cant remember the rest.. its also from tfl back in 1999

October 15, 2007, 07:16 PM
ok so how do i get a glock to fit?

October 15, 2007, 07:22 PM
The Glock 19 is the way to go, right size, 99.99% reliable and simple. You can't ask for more in a 9mm.

October 15, 2007, 07:41 PM
well you could always go XD Its Whatever man there both awesome guns.

October 15, 2007, 07:42 PM
+1 on CZ 75
