Am thinking about putting this system on my Marlin 1895M. Anyone have experiance with this sight? How difficult is it to remove the manufactures front sight and replace it with the XS ?
Is this the Ashley sight company or were they bought out. Any suggestions on a good "Ghost Ring Sight". I don't want to drill & tap or machine anything.
Thanks for the imput !!
The sight I'm looking at comes from Brownells, part #006-000-037. DRC Winged 1895 Ghost Ring Sight Set.....(has both rear peep and front sight)

Same company.
Ashley Outdoors first adopted "AO" as its corporate name. Soon after, American Optical sued for trademark infringement.
So Ashley "AO" Outdoors changed its name to "Express Sights."
Then Remington sued them because "Express" was one of their corporate trademarks.
Express Sights finally became, "XS Sight Systems," and so far, no one else has sued them again.
Have you considered just going with a Williams receiver sight?
It will work just like the XS Ghost-Ring if you un-screw the Aperture.
And your front sight needn't be replaced.

At first read, it sounds like the sight will mount to existing scope mount holes. Reading some more it says that "you must drill & tap a second hole (that is what I wanted to stay away from).

I don't believe thats the case, but I could be wrong.
This sight for the 336 (Also fits the 1895) should use the two existing rear scope base holes:

Anyway, I was thinking about a normal side mounted Williams receiver sight. The Marlins are already drilled & tapped for them:

Foolproof on my 1894P:

I just installed the XS Ghost Ring sights on my 1895G, and so far they're awesome. I didn't install the winged version, but they seem to be bulletproof, as long as you don't drop the rifle directly on the rear sight. No gunsmithing required for mine, I just used the holes already drilled and tapped for a scope in the receiver. The front sight has two screws, one you just take out and then you drift the front sight blade out to remove the other screw beneath it. Took about 5 minutes to install properly.
They're on sale right now at MidwayUSA for what I thought was a very decent price of $65.
