After spending about $100 on three different gloves I despair of finding one that is constructed properly. Am I the only person in the world where the sling passes directly over the boney projection on the outside of his wrist?

Why the hell don't they put the padding on that spot? Most instead have the "split" on the outside. Obviously they ought to have the split on the thumb side, so you can pad the boney side -WHERE THE SLING CONTACTS.

I keep trying to glue padding around that area, but it gets FUBAR.

Anyone know of a glove that's padded where I need it?

I don't know what glove you're using but I understnad the problem that you're having. I think you might have a poor hand position rather than a problem with the glove. I'm not at home right now so I can't provide really detailed pics, but just try putting your hand in a few different places. Sometimes my coat will bunch up and I have to move it but that is about it. I wear a n Anshutz 110 glove and I cannot recall having the problem you describe.

Consider using a sweatband.

Well, there's one hand position which kinda moves the sling away from the bony projection, where the stock presses down on the "fatty" area at the base of the palm, instead of resting between the fatty area and the little finger. However, that pinches a nerve, like hitting your funny bone continuously.

Having the sling high vs low seems to make no difference as far as being on top on the boney projection at the wrist.

Come to think of it, I've never seem drawings of the "correct" hand position. The wrist moves in so many directions, you really need to show several different perspectives.

Looks like the same sort of glove I just got (my other two are mitts, one with lots of padding and the other the old-fashioned type with less).

Looks like you are not putting pressure on the stock with your "palm" but only with the area between thumb & forefinger ???

Your thumb is located in front of the 8th "ridge." I need to get my equipment out to see for sure, but IIRC I was setting up with my RING finger at the 7th or 8th HOLE, which would be about where your thumb is.

I'm about 5'11" so my arms are probably a bit longer than yours (5'7" IIRC ? )

Hard to see exactly; need a white sling for good contrast in photos.

OT RANT: Bad contrast is what makes the photos in the USAMU books useless. Guys wearing Camo for instructional photographs. Dumb,dumb,dumb. I wish they would fix them up with Photoshop or something and post them on the Web.

You are correct, I just use the web of my hand to hold the rifle. It kind of acts like a brake on the handguards.

Wish you had a pic of yourself in position...might be able to help then.
