Centerfire Systems has Tactical Solutions Vest for 49$ for that price, and with a name like that i dont expect much, but i figure could be a good vest to carry mags, goof around with etc. obviously im not an operator. http://www.centerfiresystems.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=517
so i wanted to make sure the thing wasnt made out of gasoline soaked silk thats gunna destroy itself the first time i use it. so i google it in hopes of finding something here on THR or w/e.
instead i find this
http://www.gunaccessories.com/TacticalSolutions/default.asp
119$ for the same vest... so is osme one grossly over charging or is some one pushing them out at bargin basement prices?!
has anyone heard of this brand? i cant imagine its worth the 119$ but is it worth the 49$?

Vests like those tend to look alike and I can't see a difference between them on Internet photogaphs. I saw this one from Galati International for around $45 or so dollars at a gun show a few months ago, looked it over while a friend was wheeling and dealing elsewhere, and thought that it looked reasonably well made and could do for the purposes you describe: http://www.galatiinternational.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=GIO&Product_Code=GLV547B. I'm not an "operator," though, not even a small time operator. :)

Ha, that's great. Not too surprising they offer the vest in a husky size.

Yeah that's real high roadish. Go to a training class, if you don't have a MOLLE vest you are going to be spending half the class reloading, rather then on the line shooting.
Anyways this is probably one of the brands that have a low wholesale cost with a high MSRP to compete with the expensive vests so it might not be unusual to see it at $49 at one place that doesn't do much markup and at MSRP at another.
Looks like a good play around vest, but since it's all attached it doesn't seem like you can customize it much. But it might be a good way to see if you like it, or to have one around for kicks.

with lots of mags you don't have to have a vest you get alot of loaded mags that are loaded and worse case scenario you go back to your stuff pick up some loaded mags and get in the fight. i always preach train as you fight. i have done carbine courses with and without vests. it makes no sense to me why someone who is a regular joe, non military or leo or contractor would use a vest in trainning when they will most likley never find themselves in that vest when they are using the carbine. most people don't walk around with an ar and a tac vest ready to rock. just seems a littler to highspeed to me like folks are trying to impress someone when they go to a trainning course. thats not what you are there for.

And when is the last time you had to use a Carbine in a HD/SD. Even having a spare magazine is a rarity. Also how often do all those people with full size 1911, Glocks, XDs, Hks et al carry them OWB on the street?
Training is more about the drills then anything else, and if wearing a Tac Vest means I can spend the most time on the firing line doing the drills and improving myself, then that's what I am going to do. I will admit I hate wearing one, but when you pay that much for a training course, I would rather spend more time on the line the either loading up, or walking back to the shack to get more magazines.

Sorry, I didn't mean to start anything with my comment. I just found it funny that they stock a "husky" size. To me a person requiring the husky size would be far better served by training of another sort, which neither here nor there.

Could be the same vest, or the ACTD one could be a knockoff. ie, Eagle CIRAS $300, knockoff $70.

well i could understand the knock off but they both present "Tactical Solutions" as the brand,o ro it seems to me. i just think if that wasnt the brand, whats the likely hood theyd use that phrase "Tactical solutions" and not like "Tactical Vest" "Tactical Assaul;t vest" or any other

PPGMD,
you are right in a civilian sd/hd situation using a carbine is not realistic at all, and i see what you mean, but i like to train as to the sittuations that i might incounter. for me it is important to train for urban enviornment fighting with an ar/m4 type weapon system, as far as trainning for sd/hd that is why i do shotgun and handgun trainning. when i am trainning for a real world back in the states type of fight i don't ever wear body armor or a vest.
