I'm very pleased with mine too since I added a locking Belt Mountain base pin. The factory base pin was coming halfway out of the frame on just about every other cylinder full!
Mine shoots just a tad low and to the left with GA Arms cowboy loads but I have no problem hitting lifesize steel human silhouette targets at 75 yards just by aiming at the point of the right shoulder duelist style.
Bunches of fun! :D

nice looking rig. It seems that most of them shoot left and all of them shot a bit low. That was a nice thing about the one I posted- no windage.

Yup, mine shoots dead left, but not low. Looks to me like the front sight came from the factory pre-bent just a tad.
I like it anyhow.:D

I've also had the experience of Vaqueros shooting left. However, I have a pair of 5.5 inch blued .357 Vaqueros with consecutive serial numbers that are both spot on with most 158 grain loads. The first one might be a wee tad better than the second overall but with another load the second might do a bit better than the first. Windage right on, elevation right on. They must have been assembled on Tuesday or Wednesday by someone having a good life. Whoever he or she was, they done good. Me happy. (As a postscript, I have a 6.5 inch 357/9mm convertible that shoots 9s as well (maybe better) than .357s. I am twice blessed.

My Blackhawks and Vaqueros have shot better after a little work. That has included recutting the forcing cone to be more uniform, replacing the undersized cylinder base pin with a Belt Mtn base pin, replacing springs, and cutting the cylinder throats to a uniform .4525”. Fortunately my Vaqueros were pretty well on for windage, on for elevation with 250 gr. bullets. One reason I like the Blackhawks is I can sight them in with a screw driver and not a hammer and file.

Greetings all! I noticed several of you mentioned that your Vaqueros shoot low and to the left, or just low. Might I ask, are you all right handed? Ther is a reason to tins question. Many folks have this problem and think it is the gun, when in fact it is a shooter used to autos or double action revolvers. Single action clones of the Colt SAA, which the Vaqueo is, shoot differently. try shifting your shooting grip. Try either using only the tip of your finger, or if this dosen't work, use more finger. Usually the problem is folks engage the trigger with the first joint of the finger, the proper method with other firearms, but not with the Single Actions. You are, in fact, "pushing" the gun to the left and down.
By the way, I am a Cowboy Action Shooter who shoots compitition with my Vaqueros. When I first started, I did the same thing. I have met a lot of folks who have shot in other shooting sports who switched to CAS and did the same thing.
If you are just shooting low, the sights are regulated for a 250 grain bullet at about 800 to 850 feet per second. If you are using a lighter bullet, or it is moving faster, it will shoot low. hope this helps.:D

Here! I'm right handed and mentioned shooting to the left. I'm also the one that posted that 50 foot group above and was happy to find a VAq that hits center. Prior to this gun, it had been several years since I shot a Vaquero and it's possible that i was pushing the trigger on that one shooting one handed. As I recall though, it was grouping left from the bench and probably really was shooting left.( about 1.5" at 25 yards) that said. If I start finding that other Vaqs are hitting dead center as to windage, I will be forced to run out and get one.
I've been shooting a friends colts and clones and hitting pretty much dead center with them.

Yeah, I am right-handed, and that was the first thing I thought of when I first got the gun, that I was 'pushing' it to the left. But, I shot it from the bench and had others, including a lefty, shoot it and it was always to the left. I don't know how many Vaq's do this (I only own one) but the one I have is regulated about 4 inches to the left at 25 yards.
No problems with low, 250 gr loads hit at right elevation, just to the left. It is hard to tell, but it looks like the front sight is bent just a bit to one side. I've thought about getting this changed, but so far I don't think it is worth it -- this is after all not a target gun, just for fun! I put the Belt Mountain base pin in and the free wheel pawl, and had a gunsmith slick up the trigger some, and it is a lot of fun!

He's worked up a load that is pretty powerful, but also is a dream to shoot. I spent a whole afternoon destroying an *empty Coleman gas can. It's a wonderful shooter. My friend even made a shoulder rig for it. Carries it every day. (My friend is a BIG guy.) He's always said that he likes .45LC better than .44 mag because .44 mag "zips" right through the bad guy. ~And, that's exactly what happened over in a bar close to Churchill Downs. (Illegal carrier, of course. The only food THIS bar sells is "slim-Jims", "pickled eggs", and "bar nuts".) The .44 zipped right through the unfortunate loser of that particular little gun fight. And incredibly, he wasn't hurt too badly.
However, come to think about it...the revolver that my friend keeps under his mattress is a .357 mag. HUMmmm.

Contact Ruger and I believe they will re-regulate them for free, or so I have been told. Both my Vaqueros shoot to point of aim, but when new shooters shoot them, they will hit left and low. The bent front sight is probably due to the sights being regulated at the factory. Both my present Vaqueros and the two I owned previoursly were like this.

one thing I noticed on the early one I had was that the sight was soft enough to bend and overtall so you could file it down for regulation. It requires a bit of care as the sight is not real hard to knock loose.
I really like the look ( fit and polish) of the one above and the way it feels. The grips don't match the frame perfectly but the owner, Johnny Bates will fix that. I'm used to a bit of gapism on ruger grips.
