This appears to be a student paper, maybe they are wrong:

"As part of the screening process, gun vendors require a mandatory background check that looks for things such as DUIs, robbery and assault, he said. If a person clears, the buyer has a 10-day waiting period and a required firearms safety class to pass."

Maybe they only mean felony DUI. I didn't think any state made DUI a disqualification from possession, only carry (and usually only a multiple DUI situation, Utah being the exception).
