Magazine Coatings/Finish

Been thinking of having several of my blued mags for various pistols coated/refinished for rust prevention. What is the best way to go? Hard chromed or are the newer spray on finishes worthwhile? What are my options when it comes to refinishing/coating just magazines. Do any of the options make the mag not drop free?

Thanks for any info

I think HC or Black Chrome is the only option for magazines.

Any of the paint based finishes will sooner or later get scratched off given the hard use mags are exposed to.

A somewhat cheaper option is to wax the snot out of them with paste floor wax & don't rub it off. Then spray the insides with Remington Dri-Slide or something similiar that won't leave oil in the mags.

That will keep rust at bay for most normal uses except CCW where they are in direct contact with your sweaty body 24/7.
