Does anyone here have first-hand experience with the new CVA Electra?
The American Rifleman (TAR) did a write-up this month and I figured that it would explain how the electric ignition system works with real Black Powder, especially considering that many people have trouble getting BP to ignite using spark machines of various sorts. Nope, not a mention. It only evaluated the gun with 777, a faux powder and there was not the slightest hint of real black powder. One might say BP was conspicuous by its absence.
Not only that, but the TAR article glossed over other things. For example, it stated that there was a 15 second wait between firings so that one had time to reload. It didnot mention that this probably was a refractory period where the capacitor was charging and the rifle and if it could be fired then, might give unpredictable results.
I went to CVAs website and there is plenty of material there extolling the virtues of the Electra and it is a nice looking rifle. There is a video about the gun, but all of the features were explained using faux powders. Not one mention of real Black Powder was seen anywhere and the factory instruction manual was not available on line.
Does anybody know what the scoop is? Are some faux powder different in this respect? TIA
