Went to the range today and tried out my new to me kimber pro carry. I am now a 1911 style fan:D This gun felt incredible in my hands, and was extremley accurate. I am somewhat new to hand guns, but so far from everything I have shot, this is now my favorite. My favorite before this was my glock 19, which I still like, but the kimber feels sooooo much better! I was so excited that I had to share it with all of you!!

Sturgeon. Howdy and welcome to The High Road. I have a Kimber Compact Stainless that is similar to your Pro Carry. The difference is that my grip is slightly shorter than yours. Same barrel. These guns are quite amazing and I hope that you will enjoy your as I do mine. You have a high quality firearm that should give you many years of service. Scott

Commander-size 1911s, like your Pro-Carry, are the best for me in terms of balance and feel.

Good luck with yours.

I think the Pro Carry might be the best combination of firepower, accuracy and portability out there. The slide stop on mine was too long and kept locking back the slide with rounds still in the mag (a common problem with Kimbers, apparently). I filed it down a bit and it's worked perfectly ever since. Enjoy.

Picked up a Pro Carry HD I a few months back. It's slowly becoming my favorite handgun and always seems to find a way in the range bag. Accuracy is excellent and it's reliable. I couldn't think of a better CCW combination......except maybe my Glock 33.

I, too, have the ProCarry, with an alloy frame. It's a nice combination of light weight and sufficient power. Very fine in the accuracy department, also.

Mine came with a defective slide stop, but instead of holding the slide open when there were cartridges in the mag, it failed to stop it in the open position when empty. Kimber sent a new one in the mail, and it's been a fine machine since - about three years.

I have used handloads with Ranier copper-washed semi-wadcutters in 200 grain weight, but had to stop. The shoulder on the buller tends to beat up the aluminum feed ramp. I'll stick with round-nose from now on.

The ProCarry is a mighty fine carry gun; light, potent, and thin enough to hide easily. The rubber grips kind of hang onto the shirt, though.
