I am looking to build up a dedicated oven for curing finishes.
I recall a write-up on the internet from a guy that used some heating elements in the bottom of a school gym locker.

Anyone have any info or suggestions?

Id prefer to keep it 120v, and not put an old electric range in my shop.
thanks.

I know some people use heat lamps with an oven thermostat and a metal garbage can wrapped in insulation.

Ive been using an old barbeque, it wont fit barrels, but it works just fine.

I read about someone who used some double walled stove pipe, a foldgers can on each end, a heat gun on 1 end and a bbq thermometer in the middle. No insulation, no automatic control, just an hour of sitting out side with the stove and a beer turning the heat on and off once in a while. Sounds inelegant, cheap, and effective.

I'd start with an old toaster oven if you're not doing anything larger
than a rifle receiver,

You've got the cord, elements, thermostat switch, racks etc.
Recalibrate the thermostat dial or preheat using an oven thermometer.

If you're worried about the heat being too direct, shield the elements
and stick a radio shack muffin fan in the side. You can make or scrounge
a bit larger box if you like.
