Well as many have read we had the TN chapter shooting again this week. Seems atleast us Nashvillian's are starting to get together more often here in town. Was a good day tho. Midely hot, but decent breeze to keep us somewhat tollerable. First time for some of us at Owl Hollow...nice range and for the price, I think Ill go back. Had some issues but thats side tracking. I had to scoot out quickly, cant pass up a free pork chop dinner ya know ;). On to the pics. If any of you in the pics dont want them up...please let me know. I know some people dont like pics posted.

Bowlcutt,
Nice pics. Not sure I would've captioned the "Bushy" pic quite like that. Oh, and me kick your butt? Dude I was the smallest one out there. I may look mean but c'mon :D

Glockten,
Thanks for letting me play with the DE. Serious grin factor:D :D :D

All,
I hope evrybody had as much fun as I did. Can we make this a more regular event? Say monthly maybe?

Can't wait for the next outing

More details on the muzzle brake for the Moisin. If it really tames the beast, I may just pick up one for myself.

4v50Gary,

The nagant with the break belonged to OEF_VET. I shot it , and having two beasts of my own, this one was a pussy cat. The break provided some nice air conditioning from the blow back. It was pretty cool. No pun intended.:D

:D :D :D :D :D

Can you tell I had fun?

All right, who photshopped the gut onto me? I don't remember that being there!

The M-1 is a Universal copycat, the red dot is a BSA that I picked up at Wally-World. It's a pretty accurate and fun plinker. But, I think the rifle is possessed be an evil spirit. If you try to slow fire, the weapon jams constantly. However, if you're rapid firing, she works wonderfully. I think the rifle is mad at being just an M-1 is giving its' best effort to be an M-2.

I really wish I could remember where I got the brake for the M44. I could make a fortune selling them. I found it on the 'net last year for about $20-$25. It really helps calm that old Russian war-horse. So far, everyone that's tried it out has been suitabely impressed. Just don't be standing too close to the business end when it's fired. You will have some ringing ears!:D

Speaking of standing too close, Julie, sorry about the brass from the AK. Seems that rifle tosses brass quite a distance.

And what's with 'tactical poser'? I'm not a wannabe, I'm a has-been. :p

All in all, it was a great day.

Now, I'm going to strap on a flame suit. I didn't really care for the P7. It was ok, but just wasn't me. I know, it's sacrilige to say that, so I guess I'm a heretic.

Darrin, that P22 would look good in my gun collection in place of my Astra you like so much. :D

Yes it was a truely fun day. Thanks to everybody for letting us play with their toys.

As for the Mosin muzzel break I have a shorty Mosin of my own and although I don't feel that it is a backbreaker it does have some reasonably stiff recoil.

The break on OEF_VET's Mosin literally made the little beast kick less then our AR-15. It was almost bizzare. Like everybody else mentioned the coolest thing was the fact that it would blow a very substantial breeze back at the shooter upon firing. Like enough of a breeze to rustle your hair. Very interesting toy to shoot.

My favorites of the day were Glockten's AR-10, .45-70 lever action and Intunes Ruger #1 and Beretta Silver Pigeon.

By the way my offer still stands. I will give you my 10/22 stainless barrel, beautiful factory wood stock, 5 factory 10 round magazines, a 30 round pre ban magazine and a brick of ammo for your kind of well used, limited to two shots, heavy, obsolete Beretta shotgun. "Do it for the children!" Well at least one child.:D

You just had to hear Intune's sone with my 10/22. He had been shooting a single shot .22 bolt when we handed him our 10/22. All you could hear was rat ta tat tat tat tat tat tat in these fast long strings and then Intune's voice. "Slow Down!!!" Then Rat a tat tat tat tat tat tat even faster followed by. "Is that slow enough dad?" :D

It was great. Made my day.

which child are you refferring to? Intune's son, or you?

Actually I was talking about Intune's boy, but now that you mention it he could do it for both of us.

It was funny. Addison was perfectly willing to trade daddy's $2000 over an under for my 10/22. I was only trying to help.

That shotgun was beautiful and shot very very sweet.

This one was at Owl Hollow range just south of Nashville. Dont know where the next one will be. Maybe Cheatham County TWRA range, or maybe pistols at like ASP or something. If you can make it to Nashville in an hour or two its probaly worth it. We had a blast literly. Id like if we can for the next one to be on a saturday so no one is rushed. So might start some planning here soon. I love shooting with everyone and think everyone has a great time as well. Maybe if its a saturday we can do a breakfast/lunch then go shooting. But considering we now have 5-8 semi active people here in Nashville area...I think we will end up shooting together a bit more. So if anyone wants a group just speak up give us a few days notice and more than likely you will end up with atleast one other maybe 5 ya never know to go with ya.

And Im all giddy now.... Oleg said my pics were great :D

Kevin,

I've seen that site before, when I was trying to figure out where I bought it for someone else. That's not the company I bought mine from, but I'd bet their compensator would work too. For that price, it might be worth a try.

No the brake sits on the end....totaly in the way of the bayonette. so i guess techicnaly it does hurt accuracy a bit. does make the gun easier to shoot multiple times raipdly....and espcialy if you dont pull it in tightly to the shoulder

and just check here on the forums atleast weekly. we will try to make sure we give atleast a weeks notice for each shoot. also there is usualy one or many of us shooting each weekend somewhere. just make a querey to us about it. the slingers and davetdm usualy end up at ASP almost every friday, i join them from time to time as does darrin. darrin, spanky and i go to cheatham county sometimes every week maybe every other week. then the bunch of us get together each month it seems. so if you got a day you want to shoot, just let it be known, we can usualy get a group for it of 4 or 5 people

Darrin

einnor1040, welcome! Bowlcut speaks truth. (Well, this time...) We all shoot a lot. Make it known when you want to shoot, you'll have company. TN is well represented on THR.

yesterdaysyouth, you're looking at a 5-6 hour drive just to Nastyville. The bigger outdoor ranges seem to be in a bordering county which will either add or subtract an hour of that time; pending on which range we visit. Still up for it? It'd be nice to say our next shoot was a multi-state THR event! :D

cslinger

Pretty soon we will have our own little Knob Creek going on. We could have tables set up to view and trade guns, maybe a snack booth......the possiblities are endless.

Ohh yeah and that'll be $5 bucks a head, thank you.:D

Well when you are rapid fireing its hard to keep your eyes open....espcialy with a 75 round drum attached to ANY weapon.

Also if anyone wants a larger or even the full 3.2mp pic of one of these let me know. I like big old pics if you ask me :D
