I am curious about getting a Taurus Tracker in 44 mag with the 4-inch barrel and am wondering if anyone has experiences with hunting deer/hog using one. What would the practical hunting range be for a revolver in that barrel length? Any impressions of this particular model would also be appreciated. Thanks very much.

I would go with a longer barrel for both accuracy and energy. I would recommend a Redhawk too.

That's a small and light 5 shot revolver. I think it would be nice for hiking and shooting .44 specials, but would be hesitant to put many full house magnum loads through it.

It's good to how ever far you can accurately shoot it.

I would recommend a Redhawk too.

I'm gonna go ahead and second that motion.

I have a raging bull 454 with 5" barrel on it. I took a hog with it at 15 yards when I went down south on a hog hunting trip. This is the 1st year I will be using it for deer hunting on drives here in MN. I feel comfortable out to 40 yards maybe 50.
