Bench Master Rest

My mother recently got me a benchmaster rifle rest for my birthday on the explaination that she felt it would be better than my sandbags and if not then take it back and pick out something I deemed usefull. On inspection I don't find this rest overly sable and I can't see it having any significant advantage over sandbags. To any who might have used this rest, what are your impressions? Is it all its cracked up to be or a basic waste of money?
Thanks
Matt

I have a benchmaster and also found it slightly unstable. To eliminate the wobble between the arm which supports front bag and the base, I drilled and tapped a hole in the right side of the base and inserted a 1/4' SAE thumb screw w/knurled head. This screw is loosened to adjust elevation and tightened when correct elevation is set (when tight eliminates all wobble due to some play @ hinge bolt).
The main advantage I can see over sandbags is the light weight makes it easily portable. Also, the strap that rests between shooter's shoulder and the butt plate does help reduce felt recoil during long bench sessions with heavy recoiling rifles.

hps
