It's a pelletized black powder equivelent, two pellets supposed to give a .50 cal ball 30.06 power and speeds. Lot of claims, not much experience in the field yet. Hogden is a pretty good company though, so their claims have merit.
Now a gun in 777 calibler, THAT would be something.

Ediot: sorry about the double post.

Well, i normally use 2 pellets of regular(50 gr) 777 pellets. I was wondering about the black powder equivilent charge of the new stuff. Its not on the packaging. The box just says use two pellets and instantly get 2600+fps on a 250 gr bullet. They do seem a little larger than the other pellets. Anyone chrono'd it?

Just think about it. Any product with with Magnum in the name will sell like hotcakes: Never mind that the performance claims are not true.

Bryce M Towsley did a piece in October's Rifleman magazine. He tested all the black powder substitutes along with three popular brands of black powder.

Towsley got a whopping 1,850 fps from two of the "Magnum" 777 pellets: The exact same velocity that he got from 100 grains equivalent of Pyrodex RS. A 150 grain .30-06 bullet traveling at 2,900 fps generates 2,800 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle. The 250 grain SST/Shockwave bullet
at 1,850 fps makes about 1,900-2,000 foot pounds of energy.
