Unusual Jam

I recently bought a glock 36. Being a first time gun user I accidently loaded the magazine backwards and jammed a round into the chamber backwords. It looks much like this(but in a glock 36). http://army.ca/album/Humour/pistoljam.JPG

I feel like an idiot. I would like suggestions as how to clear the jam. I am very reluctant to put a dowel down the barrel and bang on the back of a center fire cartridge. I can't pull the round out from the other direction. How do I safely clear this jam

dowel down the barrel. I doubt it's jammed in there all that hard.

If you're worried about hitting the primer, use a fat enough dowel and hollow out the end a little bit.

No sweat. Just use a large wooden dowel (bigger in diameter than a large pistol primer and that doesn't, for some odd reason, have a hard metal point on the end) and you'll be fine. :)

Don't feel bad; HK loads mags backwards sometimes. :D

Believe it or not, yours is not the first case I've heard of with a glock (don't remember if it was a 36).

Hey, if you don't feel comfortable doing the dowel rod thing, a gun smith will. You'll have to pay for that, though.

you will also risk being laughed at if you show your face int hat gunshop again :p

If you do use a dowel cut out a small piece of rubber or leather to help cushion the blow might be something to consider.

Primers are installed with a tiny metal dowel pushing them into the pocket, a wood dowel pushing on the case won't hurt a thing, hammer away.

Odd Job

If you are scared of the dowel, why not use the plastic sleeve of a bic pen, or some other plastic or brass tube?

****load of breakfree or gun scrubber and a small pipe. That way you dont have to worry about hitting the primer. Just be steady in hand not to hit the sides of the barrel. A friend did the same thing and he was concerned in the same manner and I wasnt available to get the dowel out. He used hard wire conduit and it came right out.

I gut a stuck case out once by using one of those rubber tipped blowguns at work. Might work in this situation if you have access to an air compressor.

 Just a human being, I guess.

I guess it's true that Glocks will feed anything. Although that one guy that unloaded a 30 round mag into a trash bin full of water would swear you could fire off the entire mag backwards underwater. :p

By the way, welcome to the high road.

Hammer away... you're fine...:D

Wooden dowel, ballpeen hammer, safety glasses, bullet proofing for your foot, a big towel to wipe off your sweat...;-)

Used a hollow bic pen. A few light taps and it came right out.

Thanks guys.

Good to hear...I guess your username does mean something.:D

i would put the barrel in a bench vise, and put something on the other end just incase the round fired. But am I wrong, or couldn't you just use vise grips and pull the round out, or even the bullet out of the case? Of course not pointing it at anything.

Don't worry, it just means your qualified to shoot marketing literature for HK.

Yeah just tap gently.

Wear safety glasses.

Since you're a first-time gun user then you should consider reading up on gun safety.

In reality the only real safety on that Glock or really any gun is your brain! You must ingrain gun safety into your head to make it a second nature.

Please for your safety google the term "gun safety" and practice, practice, practice.

We want you to enjoy your new hardware without ever having to regret not learning proper handling techniques.

Welcome to The High Road.

Please google "gun safety"

Good Luck
