What was your first legal CCW?

What handgun was the first gun that you carried legally with your CCW permit?
Mine was a Jenning J-22.:o I am ashamed to admit it but that is what I started with. I feel that I have come a long way in finding out what guns are good but I still get burned once in a while.

1911 style
I carried before anyone said we needed a law to carry and we all carried something anyway back then. Clear as mud huh? Even back then I preferred to "sling enough mud" ;)

Mine was a three inch Charter Arms .38. My dad bought the revolver for me when I was 13 or 14 and I started carrying it when I turned 21 and got my first "pistol permit". That was 20 years ago and my dad has the CA now and I carry a 3" Taurus 85.

It was my (now) faithful M85 2" snub ....... which sits right now where it belongs, at 4 o'clock!!!
Since the early times tho I have added quite a bit ...... such that cooler seasons now have me choose either the P95 or more likely since i got it .. the P97.
I do like the comfort of my FEG in sho rig but ... have to confess to preferring the carry of a DA/SA .... so once the heat goes .. it's P97 all the way, in Fobus paddle.

- - -Except when traveling, hunting, etc. When I could s-t-r-e-t-c-h those parameters, I variously carried a Colt .22 Challenger, 1922 Browning .32, or a Beretta .25. Everything was necessarily deep cover concealment.
My first day-in, day-out legal concealed carry was when I became a peace officer in 1967. PPK .380 alternated with an old commercial 1911, both IWB. From there, anything I happened to fancy at the moment.:D

Hi-Point .380. By far, not the coolest carry gun, but it was all I had at the time. Afterall, I worked at Drunken Donuts, making $6.25 an hour. Couldn't afford anything better.

Congrats on getting your permit. Now, how about a sweet deal on another Astra? I've got this real nice A-70 in .40 S&W that I know you like. It won't cost a dime, just give me your P-22. :D

In the Great State of Texas (a/k/a Republic of Texas), you must qualify with a semi-auto (SA) or non-semi-auto (NSA). Most everyone wants the SA stamp on their CHL, so I qualified with a semi-auto. But what was the first "legal carry" handgun I actually toted around? A revolver of course!!!

Only inexpensive light weight (26 oz. loaded) significant calaber pistol that held 10+1 rounds I could find at the time with an ambi safety. I'm lefty & was newbe to handguns at the time, but had carried "Mr. Rattles", a horribly inaccurate 1911 in Army years ago (best groups were measured in feet, not inches) and still remembered how the weight felt at the end of a long day. Since then have discovered DA, which removes the ambi-safety issue, and usually carry a Keltec P40, which is even smaller & lighter (20 oz. loaded) than the Stealth & now has devoured over 6,000 rounds (mostly semi-wadcutter handloads) completely reliably.
