I have a Stag Lower and I'm planning an AR build. I'm left eye dominant and have noticed that Stag makes lefty uppers and since I'm building a custom rifle, why not customize it for me.

Is there any reason not to build a lefty?? Any special parts that I'm not thinking about????

Keep in mind, the internals are different as well, bolt and carrier. That's the only drawback is lack of parts and resale value. My wife has a Stag lefty AR-15 and it's a great gun. I shoot it right handed with no problems.

On that note, I'm left eye dominant (and right eye blind), but I shoot my right handed AR left handed with no problems whatsoever.

I can't see any reason NOT to build a lefty, but I can't personally find a reason TO build one either.

Isn't the charging handle southpaw specific as well?

I shoot longarms left, and have no intentions of getting a LH stag. I dont even have ambi safeties on mine, nor do I have plans to add them.

Keep in mind that the only southpaw part of a LH stag is the upper assembly. The lower has an ambi safety ($25) and an ambi-catch ($70?), but the bolt catch is still just out of reach since the lower itself is a standard AR15 lower.

I can't see any reason NOT to build a lefty, but I can't personally find a reason TO build one either.
I agree.

won't work with ceiner 22lr conversion and with the current trajectory of ammo prices, you may want to practice/plink with 22lr

parts availability and resale value are suspect

Isn't the charging handle southpaw specific as well? Why would that be necesary. The CH is T shaped and located in the center of the rifle.

Still 2 Many Choices!?

Since the AR-15 is by most peoples figuring here, something like 90-95% ambidextrous as is, I would stick with the configuration that is comes in for parts availability... All you need is the ambi-safety and are golden:).

Perfect summary. I shoot lefty with a righty AR and no problems whatsoever.

Southpaw buddy of mine built one in his garage.

Functions great, and he really likes it.
