Howdy:
I want to place a rear aperture sight on my CZ550 American Safari in .375 H&H. Santa has a limited budget this year and my Leupold VX-III 1.5-5X scope will have to wait.
What makes it somewhat difficult is that CZ has an integral 19mm dovetail mount that scope rings mount to (check out attached image of the receiver--BTW, what would you call the cutout on the rear, left side of the receiver? A "recoil cutout," maybe?).
My preferred solution has the following characteristics:
1. Screw-in apertures allowing different size apertures or none for a ghost ring type setup
2. Low mounting
3. No permanent hardware that interferes with scope mounting
Heck, something that mounted to the CZ dovetail/recoil cutout would be the bee's knees. I reckon if I were meticulous, I might be able to install/replace without it having too much an effect on zero*.
* Keep track # turns/torque it was screwed down with, consistent mounting location, etc.
