Hey I own an M1A and everyone warns about using factory .308 so the only 7.62 I can even find is Wolf. Can anyone recommend Wolf through experience.

What about for my M1 Carbine, Glock 21, Uzi, AR? Are there any "real" damage done after long term use. I plan to buy in bulk but I want to get an update on anyone else's usage.

I've got a few thousand rounds of Wolf through my SKS without any major complaints.

Occasionally, say, 1 in 200, I'll get a failure to fire and a clearly dimpled primer, it seems like Wolf mil-spec primers are harder than heck (as military primers are wont to be) and need a very positive strike to detonate.

As far as fouling, misfeeds, generally accuracy, etc, the ammo has performed fine. It's not match grade, it's just what it is, and it ain't too bad.

I have never had a single failure from more than 1000 rounds of it in 223 or 308.

I use Wolf in my AK, but my Loaded M1A gets Winchester White Box 7.62 (sometimes they list it as .308, sometimes as 7.62). Its not .308 hunting ammo meant for bolt actions, its safe for the M1A.

You can also find all the cheap 7.62 nato ammo at the M14 firing line in their ammo section under the thread "cheapest 7.62x51 surplus". Its a sticky.

If the only .308 (7.62x51) you can find is Wolf brand, you are not looking hard enough.

I have no problem with Wolf 7.62x39. All the guns in that caliber seem quite happy with it. The same cannot be said for Wolf .308 (7.62x51). There have been kabooms. See http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=176323

Steel-case rifle ammo is at its best when pressures are lower, and there is substantial taper of the case body. Neither of these favorable conditions exist in the case of .308 (7.62x51) ammo.

The BRASS-cased Wolf is probably fine. Its made by Prvi Partisan (Czech Republic).

Steel cased wolf ammo is good blasting ammo and makes noise like any otehr ammo. Other than that, I don't see why people spend thousand$ on a rifle/pistol and then fire the cheapest/lousiest ammo through it- I shoot it through my SKS, its a $150 rifle, but I don't shoot wolf through anything else.

If you look around, there is some south african 7.62 out there.

I put the 7.62x51 steel cased wolf through my century G3 clone by the hundreds of rounds regularly. Never any problems from the steel case and all.
And G3's are spose' to be pickey about cartridge cases due to the fluted chamber and all...

The only problem with .308 Wolf came from early quality control issues. A couple of reports of blown-up guns from double loads around FAL files (a few fals, and I remember a G3 or two as well). That was about a year and a half ago, however. I havn't heard anything bad about them now. If you find a good price, I'd go for it.
