The following is an interesting article on the effort to replace the M1911A1 in US service. Does it seem to be accurate in it's details?

Yes, but I think the M11 should be mentioned. It's the SIG-Sauer P228 with luminous sights, issued to certain aircrew, etc. and CID personnel and others who find the M9 too large for their hands or their applications.
The French military and gendarmerie also use the Beretta M92, but in a version in which the thumb safety automatically returns to off-safe once it drops the hammer. This is the M92G. Looks like the 92F, but the spring-loaded safety returns on its own, while the F version can be left on "safe".
