SW Model 65 front sight help

I bought a used SW Model 65 SS 4" at a show in Charlotte last weekend.:D It is my first revolver primarily for HD and paper work at the range. I inspected it after reading and rereading the Jim March article on buying revolvers in this forum and I think I got a good one. Its very tight, no undue wear and a real nice trigger. First trip to the range was very good and I think it is a keeper. Now for some opinions. The front sight on this gun is fixed to the barrel and totally unadjustable. I like the way it sights fine, but the front sight blends into the surroundings a little. I thought about putting a red dot on it to make it stand out. Good idea? Any other suggestions.

I would try painting your sight first and see if it helps. Birchwood Casey came out with a new product called Super Bright Touch-up Sight Pens just for this problem. They come in red or green. You have to put a white base down first, then your color of choice. I tried the red and it works much better then nail polish or Bright Sights paint. It is not shown not on their website, but if you do a search, several on-line retailers stock them. I have also seen them on eBay.

You can paint it any color you want.
De-grease it with alcohol and use Testers Model Enamel as it is cheap, available in every color of the rainbow, and will stay on good.
Keep in mind though that Flat Black sights are more accurate then any other color in all outdoor lighting conditions. That's what the Bullseye target shooters use.

I like Construction marking paint. it is bright flat orange, very showy but it does not have glossy reflections.

We used to hit up a local drug store or large shopping mall and find a place that sells nail polish pick a bright red or orange (not pink:neener:) or whatever color suits you and then a clear coat over the nail polish.
Works great!:D

Enamel paint for model cars, etc. I use a bright green.

I use "glow in the dark" paint that I got at WalMart.
It was a pint for $5 and should last me a lifetime and then some. I got it to paint the address to the house on the curb. One of my cop buddies suggested I use it on my sights when I was complaining about the nail polish I had on the sight.
It does glow in the dark, if you shine a light on it first, but it's not distracting like the Meps sight on my Glock. It is also really easy to "pick up" the sight in the daytime.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try marking it with a Sharpie temporarily to try colors and then head up to Walmart.
